ATLanime Fest

A custom website for for Atlanta’s #1 Anime & Music festival.

Client: Trap Sushi, for Atlanime Fest

What they needed: A user-friendly, visually engaging site for all Atlanime Fest 2025 info, one that felt like the festival itself and spoke directly to Atlanta’s Black anime community.

It includes a full event schedule (performances, cosplay contests, gaming tournaments, interactive programming), featured artist and creator content, ticket purchasing and VIP upgrades, sponsorship info with clear contact details, social media integration, and email signup for future events.

Built for anime fans and cosplayers, artists and creators, vendors and exhibitors, sponsors and partners, media and influencers, and music fans attending for the live performances.

What I did: Full design and build using Next.js, Sanity, and Figma

Process: They came in with clear art direction, strong existing assets, and a well-defined community with its own visual language: bold, expressive, maximalist.

I started by aligning on direction, then designed a few versions of the homepage to get a real read on where their taste lived. Once they picked a direction, I designed out the rest of the site with a clearer sense of how they’d use it and how it could grow with them over time. Then I built everything out and we launched.

Outcome: We hit the launch deadline, and the site performed well through launch and the event itself. The Atlanime Fest team picked up the Sanity backend easily and hasn’t run into real friction managing it themselves. They have a second event planned for later this year (Oct 2026).

One addition that came out of actually using the site: a lock mode for the off-season, when they’re heads-down planning and don’t want live event info showing. It strips down to a simple homepage and drops the navigation until they’re ready to switch it back on.
